My Story:
Talent is a gift but without tenacity and un-common sense is useless…
I am a 33 year old CEO that started my journey in 1993 working for Ron Lee Column running his silk screen press room in Bloomsburg Pa. Changing my life long ambition of Architecture to Graphic design, I gained a love for a new form of art. By 1996 I was running Column’s press area full time and had started to learn Photoshop 2.0. I was hooked. This is where Sun Sign Designs started to incubate. I designed my first Sun which I silk screened on my guitar case.
In fall of 1996 I went to college and started to realize that I could learn an entire software package from top to bottom on my own. It was the time that the Internet was virgin and I built my first website with a company called C-Works. In 1998 I got hired at Marywood to do network administration which at the very least boarded me. In 1999 I got hired by Kiwi Studios to do website development and flash animation. At that time I had packed away HTML, DHTML, XML, Flash, and Director (using lingo as a programming language). I was the only programmer in the office.
In 2000 I started Sun Sign Designs. My vision was simple, Designs for All Humanity TM. At this point it was a side gig that helped pay the rent.
Two months after graduation I got hired as Creative Director for Spectra Products. Spectra was the nation’s largest advertising agency for 3 party mail. AKA junk mail. Sun Sign Designs too a back seat as I road life by the horns. I went from running the design department to also running the Information Technology department. In 2006 Spectra was bought by Datagence and changed it’s name to V12 Group. Being a key person in the merger I got a crash course in operations. I helped merge three companies in to one and started to learn advanced IT systems. By the time I had left Spectra I had worked with every major bank in the United States learned ASP, PHP, advanced network and server administration, Citrix remote software deployment, business accounting, business operation, marketing strategies for fortune 500 companies and how to run a
major business.
I left Spectra Products in February 2009 and took my growing clientele to the next level. Using what I had learned I built a virtual office and hired people across the country to work for me. My philosophy was simple why have brick and mortar went we can do the same thing at home.
In three years I had gained 40 clients in three major countries as well as learned Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Marketing and why Word Press was the best thing next to sliced bread.
Above all I have had a wonderful journey with may new adventures yet to come. I have learned to creatively beat all odd and adversity. I owe everything thus far to the talent given to me as a child, support of family and friends and a bit of luck.
Sun Sign Designs’ name and logo was chosen as an icon of faith, always present, always faithful, and the sun was my first design that changed how I thought and how got here.
